ドイツには、通りに突き出したタイプの看板が少ない。「看板文化」から来た身には物足りないけれど、たまに遭遇するものには秀作が多い。 平和で静かなチューリッヒの旧市街で遭遇した、この看板。「angst（アングスト）」とはドイツ語で「恐れ・不安」などを意味するのだが、驚きのあまり、しばらく看板を見上げたまま佇んでしまった。鍵やの名前に「angst」とつけた意図って、なんだろう。シャレか？ここで鍵を作れば、恐いものなし、という願掛けか？どっちにしても、斬新。 There are not so many hanging signs in Germany. この建物が目に入った瞬間、クラフトワーク、YMO、ジョイ・ディビジョンの音楽が聴こえた。 ほぼ予算のみで選んだチューリッヒの民泊先は、シフバウ（造船の意味）という工業再開発地区で、バウハウス好きには心地よいランドスケープが広がる。工業地帯は、ずるいほどに潔い存在感があって好きだ。少しすさんだ感じの哀愁も心惹かれる理由かもしれない。 Kraftwerk, YMO or even Joy Division were playing in my head when I stood in front of this building. 倹約上等のドイツ文化が染みつき、薄暗いベルリンの生活が長すぎてしまったからか、スイス人の電気の使い方がいやに気になった。 半屋外の照明が昼間から点灯し、同居人のスイス人も部屋の電気がつけっぱなしでも気にしていない風。もったいないじゃないか！と心の中で叫ぶ。何故だ？と心の奥で考える。でも裏を返せば、そんなこと気にしなくてもいい余裕が、スイスなのかもしれない。 Swiss will never get dark! チューリッヒに到着して初めて目に飛び込んできた車。ベルリンと対極に位置するような、この秩序ある豊かな街で、この「ベルリンぽい」車がどれだけ珍しいものか、その時は気づかなかった。 「ようこそスイスへ！」と言われているような、ほっと嬉しい気持ちになった。 This was the first car that I encountered in Zurich. I didn’t know then how special this car was in this super orderly and affluent city, which is the polar-opposite of Berlin. This car made me feel “home” and welcomed. photographed in aug/2020
