倹約上等のドイツ文化が染みつき、薄暗いベルリンの生活が長すぎてしまったからか、スイス人の電気の使い方がいやに気になった。

半屋外の照明が昼間から点灯し、同居人のスイス人も部屋の電気がつけっぱなしでも気にしていない風。もったいないじゃないか！と心の中で叫ぶ。何故だ？と心の奥で考える。でも裏を返せば、そんなこと気にしなくてもいい余裕が、スイスなのかもしれない。

Swiss will never get dark!
I encountered situations where the light was on even in the daylight, or a room mate seemed to forget to switch off after using a bathroom.

I simply wonder why? Is it because I lived in Berlin too long, where street lights are ridiculously dimmed? Or I accepted German’s belt-tightening culture so well? Why Swiss people are OK with the light left on? Maybe, they can afford it. They might have lots of resources that never goes out… Maybe that is the SWISS.
