アメリカはフォトジェニックだ。そのサイズ感、プレゼンテーション、色、空気。このオレンジ色のごみ袋も、なぜかかっこいい。ちょっと考えてみても、道端のごみ袋がここまでカッコいい国は、ほかにはないと思う。

「こうなのだ」と肯定する力はパワフルだ。アメリカのカッコよさを裏付けるものはそこだと思う。間違っているか、そうじゃないかは関係ない。そして、この「肯定力」にいつも圧倒される。「これでいいですか？」と、常に周りと協調することを良しと教えられてきた自分には、この直球の肯定力は眩しい。オレンジ色のごみ袋、眩しいぜ。

America is photogenic. Size, presentation, colours and space. Everything is so big and vibrant, and has full of energy. Even a garbage bag is photogenic, and probably you cannot find any other place but America, where a garbage bag on the roadside looks cool and powerful as an art object as this one.

This coolness is backed up by America’s positive and assertive manner, and this has strong energy to convince you that “this is right”, although it doesn’t matter if it is right or wrong! I learnt in school to see first what the other people would think. So, a question of “Is it ok, like that?” comes quite constantly and also unconsciously across my mind. America’s attitude shins like a summer sun. I wish I had this straight-forwardness!
